Background

Roy M. Fairman graduated from Gettysburg College in 1968 with a biology major and Distinguished Military Graduate status. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, served two years in Korea — earning the Meritorious Service Medal and Army Commendation Medals — and resigned his commission in 1971. He then earned an MBA from The Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) in 1973.

Fairman joined Arthur Andersen & Co. in 1973 and spent 29 years there, becoming a partner in 1984 and serving as the partner in charge of the Tax practice of the Philadelphia office from roughly 1991/1992 to 2001. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS), and a member of both the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs (PICPA).

In 2002 he founded the Fairman Group Family Office to provide comprehensive wealth advisory, investment, and individual/estate tax services to high-net-worth individuals, family-business owners, entrepreneurs, and senior corporate executives. The firm has since rebranded as Fairman Financial while preserving its family-office legacy. Public advisory records indicate a firm of roughly 16 employees managing on the order of $850 million in assets for 400+ clients.

Beyond his practice, Fairman is active in civic and educational institutions: he sits on the Board of Fellows at Gettysburg College and its Eisenhower Institute National Advisory Council, and has served on the Board of Trustees of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church and several not-for-profit boards. He and his wife Nancy live in Villanova, PA.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Investing activity is institutional wealth management, not venture/angel deal-making: portfolio management for individuals, small businesses, and institutional clients, plus selection of outside managers.
  • Core client base is high-net-worth individuals and families, family-business owners, entrepreneurs, and senior corporate executives.
  • Emphasis on integrated tax planning + financial planning + investment management delivered from a single family-office platform.
  • No publicly stated startup/seed-stage thesis, check size, sector focus, or target-company profile was found; these are omitted rather than invented.

Notable Investments

  • No public angel or venture portfolio companies were identified for Roy Fairman. His firm provides discretionary portfolio management for private clients rather than direct startup equity investments; specific holdings are not publicly disclosed.
