Runar Kvale

Runar Kvåle is an Oslo-based investment professional who has spent two decades in Norwegian private equity, venture capital and family-office investing. He earned his graduate degree (siviløkonom/MSc) from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) around 2002, and more recently completed an executive credential at the MIT Sloan School of Management (2023–2024). His stated skill set centers on private equity, venture capital, valuation, financial modeling and business strategy.

Kvåle began his finance career as an advisor at DNB Markets (roughly 2005–2008) before joining the Ferd group. He started at Ferd Venture as an Investment Associate (August 2008–January 2010) and then moved into Ferd AS / Ferd Capital, where he worked as an Investment Professional and Senior Investment Manager from January 2010 to March 2021. Ferd is one of Norway's largest privately held investment houses, owned by the Andresen family. During his Ferd tenure he was responsible for following the firm's engagement in the oil-services company Aibel, sitting on Aibel's board of directors from April 2013 to March 2021 and working alongside Ferd Capital head Morten Borge on that holding.

In 2021 Kvåle moved to Aars AS, the Møller family's holding and investment company, where he serves as Investment Director. Aars is a corporate-anchored single-family office: its industrial core is the Møller Mobility Group (Volkswagen/Audi importer and dealer network across the Nordics and Baltics), alongside real estate (Møller Eiendom) and a book of venture and private investments. In this role Kvåle oversees and chairs portfolio companies and helps deploy the family's capital into Nordic operating businesses and venture-stage startups.

Today he holds active board leadership positions, most notably as Chairperson of Onitio (an IT-services company in which Aars has held a controlling ~98% stake since 2018) and as Chairperson of Function. His career profile is therefore that of a hands-on, control-oriented investor and board chairman rather than a passive angel writing small seed checks.

• Invests institutionally on behalf of family-office capital (Aars / the Møller family), not as a classic personal angel — the "angel/seed" framing in directories overstates the early-stage tilt.
• Comfortable across the capital structure: from venture-stage co-investments to majority ownership and active board chairmanship of established operating companies.
