Background

Ryan Schweet is a Partner at Entrepreneurial Equity Partners (E2P / e2p), a Chicago-based private equity firm focused exclusively on the food, consumer, and packaging industries. E2P was co-founded by managing partners Mark Burgett and CJ Fraleigh, both of whom previously ran food and consumer investing at Wind Point Partners. The firm closed its inaugural fund (E2P I) at $423 million in 2021 and its second fund (E2P II) at $546 million in May 2024, bringing assets under management to roughly $1.7 billion.

Before joining E2P, Schweet co-founded and served as CEO of Victory Views, a venture-backed software business focused on the education-services sector. Earlier in his career he was an Associate and then Senior Associate at Wind Point Partners — the same Chicago private equity firm where E2P's founders built their food-and-consumer track record — after beginning his career in investment banking at UBS.

Schweet earned a BS in Business from Indiana University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is based in Chicago.

At E2P he is an active board member, currently serving on the boards of several portfolio companies including Bil-Jac Foods, Leiby's Premium Dairy, Roskam Foods, Thrive Freeze Dry, World Food Holdings, and Ya YA Foods Corporation. He previously served on the board of Furlani Foods, a realized (exited) E2P investment.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Sector-dedicated: E2P invests only in food, consumer, and packaging. As the firm puts it: *"Food is a cornerstone of everyday life. e2p focuses our investment efforts in food because we're passionate about the sector, understand it deeply…"*
  • Control-oriented buyouts, not seed: E2P takes majority/control positions in established businesses — typically family-held companies and corporate carve-outs — rather than minority venture or angel stakes.
  • Revenue threshold: Targets companies with a minimum of roughly $50 million in revenue; check sizes are drawn from institutional funds totaling ~$1.7B AUM (E2P I at $423M, E2P II at $546M).
  • Operating playbook: E2P deploys a proprietary "North Star Smart Investing Program" paired with a tailored Business Transformation Plan to set clear goals and performance expectations for each portfolio company.
  • What makes them say yes: Businesses in food/beverage brands and products, private label and contract manufacturing, foodservice, CPG, and packaging where hands-on operational transformation can drive growth.
