Sandi Gilbert

Sandi Gilbert is a Calgary-based entrepreneur and angel investor who has spent more than a decade building companies and infrastructure for Canada's private capital markets. She grew up in an entrepreneurial family — born on a farm in Manitoba — and began her career in investment banking in Calgary, raising private capital for junior oil and gas companies. Her operating background includes a start-up telecommunications firm in the United States and a document-process-outsourcing company in Canada that she grew to roughly C$33M in revenue across four facilities nationwide. She studied at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.

Gilbert is best known as the founder and CEO of SeedUps Canada, one of the country's first equity/investment-crowdfunding platforms, which later evolved into DealPoint — a SaaS platform that helps private companies organize capital raises and manage investor relationships from raise through exit. Drawing on this work, she became a leading public advocate for equity crowdfunding and expanded angel participation in Western Canada, appearing frequently in outlets such as Crowdfund Insider and at events like FFCON.

Today she is Managing Partner of InterGen, a Calgary private venture fund and "venture builder." InterGen Capital raised roughly C$7M (about C$4M from prominent families plus a ~C$2M corporate-partner sidecar) to deploy ~C$1M cheques into post-seed, pre-Series A Alberta companies, while the affiliated not-for-profit InterGen Connect matches experienced business talent with scaling companies (reporting thousands of matches and 1,000+ direct connections). She also serves as a Board Member — and former Board Chair (2017–2020) — of NACO Canada, the National Angel Capital Organization, and has sat on bodies including the Alberta Securities Commission's Economy Advisory Committee and been active with the Angel Capital Association. She is a board member of Metiquity Ventures, a fund investing in digital-technology companies across the Prairies.
