Sandra Gray

Dr. Sandra C. Gray served as the President of Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky, from 2007 to 2019 — the university's first female president. Before entering higher education, she spent several years in banking, rising to vice president of a bank. She joined Asbury in 1989 as a professor of business management, a faculty role she held for roughly 16 years before serving as the institution's provost for a year and then being appointed president in 2007.

Her academic credentials are anchored at the University of Kentucky, where she earned an MBA (1984) and a Ph.D. in Public Administration (1997). She also completed additional coursework at institutions including the University of South Carolina, the University of Vienna (Austria), the University of Colorado, and the University of Oklahoma.
