Background
Scott Glassman built his career in finance and private equity before moving into renewable-energy project finance. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, with concentrations in Accounting and Finance, from the University of Virginia (McIntire School of Commerce) between 2010 and 2014. His early career included roles at The Breckenridge Group, Cary Street Partners, and Advantage Capital Partners, giving him a foundation in investment banking, advisory, and structured/impact finance.
Glassman attended the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, graduating in the MBA Class of 2023, where he concentrated on energy infrastructure, power & utilities, and LNG. During business school he interned at Grey Rock Investment Partners, conducting primary research and preparing investment memoranda on "Net Zero" opportunities focused on carbon capture and power optimization — an early signal of his pivot toward the energy transition.
At CenterGate Capital — an Austin-based lower middle-market private equity firm led by managing partners Tiffany Kosch and Lewis Schoenwetter — Glassman progressed from Associate to Senior Associate. There he executed middle-market transactions, built buyout and operating models, drafted investment committee memoranda, managed due-diligence workstreams, and supported negotiation of legal documents. CenterGate invests across business services, consumer products, manufacturing, distribution, telecom, and healthcare.
He has since moved into a Project Finance role at Leeward Renewable Energy, a utility-scale wind, solar, and storage developer/operator — aligning his career with the energy-infrastructure focus he pursued at Booth.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Operates within lower middle-market private equity, not angel/seed investing. CenterGate targets established North American companies with roughly $20M–$250M in revenue.
- CenterGate's stated approach is hands-on operational partnership — "roll up our sleeves" with management teams to identify value-creation opportunities and "navigate complexities."
- Sectors: business services, consumer products, manufacturing, distribution, telecom, and healthcare.
- Glassman personally has gravitated toward energy transition and project finance — carbon capture, power optimization, and renewables (wind/solar/storage) — based on his Booth concentration, Grey Rock internship, and current Leeward role.
- No evidence of a personal angel-investing thesis, stated check size, or seed-stage criteria was found.
