Background

Scott Morrow is an internet and startup veteran with more than 15 years of executive experience in interactive media, lead generation, and e-commerce. He grew up in Clinton, Tennessee, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Tennessee, and completed an MBA at Northwestern University's J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

His operating career spans several notable consumer-internet companies. He served as VP of Marketing & Sales in CNET Networks' Download.com division, then as Executive Vice President of Product & Marketing at IAC/Citysearch. He went on to be CEO and President of ThisNext, a venture-backed social-shopping company, and later co-CEO of Oversee.net, a large performance-marketing network that at its peak reached more than 250 million monthly unique users across travel, consumer-finance, and retail properties.

In late 2012 Morrow was named CEO of Los Angeles–based Luxury Link Travel Group (formally taking the CEO title on November 1, 2013) and joined its board. There he ran a portfolio of premium-travel marketplaces — Luxury Link, Family Getaway, and the members-only Vacationist site — driving mobile product launches, international expansion, and search-marketing strategy. He led the company until roughly 2015.

Since June 2019 Morrow has been a Vistage Chair (executive coach and peer-group leader for CEOs and business owners) with Vistage Worldwide, based in Nashville, Tennessee. Across his career he has served as a board member and advisor to multiple startups and remains an active angel investor.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests primarily at seed / early stage, drawing on an operator's background in consumer internet, e-commerce, and performance/lead-generation marketing.
  • Backs businesses in internet retail and marketplace models — areas directly adjacent to the companies he built and ran (ThisNext, Oversee.net, Luxury Link).
  • Has shown willingness to go beyond his core lane opportunistically, including an early life-sciences / molecular-diagnostics bet (Linkage Biosciences).
  • Values leadership and forward momentum in founders — in his own words: *"Leadership. If you are not leading, you are following. And the market rewards leaders,"* and *"I don't always make the right decision, and I've made my share of mistakes, but I'm always moving forward."*

Notable Investments

  • Leaseville — consumer lease-to-own / internet-retail financing company; Morrow was a seed investor (~October 2015 – December 2020).
  • Linkage Biosciences — molecular-diagnostics company developing products to improve and expedite complex genetic testing; Morrow participated as a Series A–stage investor (~July 2010 – July 2017).
