Background

Scott Renkes is a Director and founding-team member of Pinecrest Capital Partners, a Dallas-based investment banking and financial advisory firm founded in 2014. In his role he is responsible for overall transaction process management and execution support, deal sourcing, and a range of financial advisory services across the firm's engagements. He has been with Pinecrest since its early years, advancing from an Associate/Vice President role into his current Director position.

Before joining Pinecrest, Renkes worked in PwC's Financial Valuation Group, where he focused on business enterprise and intangible asset valuations for financial and tax reporting purposes, as well as for mergers and acquisitions. That valuation background underpins his transaction-execution work at Pinecrest.

Renkes earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting (summa cum laude) and a Master's in Finance, both from Texas A&M University. He is based in Dallas, Texas.

Pinecrest itself operates as a middle-market investment bank/merchant bank, offering sell-side M&A representation, buy-side acquisition advisory, private debt and equity capital raises, and pre-transaction/market-preparation advisory. Securities services are offered through BA Securities, LLC (FINRA/SIPC member). The firm serves founders and families of privately held businesses, primarily in healthcare and industrial/business-services sectors.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Operates as an M&A advisor / investment banker, not a check-writing angel or VC — engagements center on selling, recapitalizing, or raising capital for established, profitable middle-market companies rather than funding early-stage startups.
  • Focus sectors include healthcare (notably home care, behavioral/therapy services, and surgical/physician practice management), industrial/manufacturing/construction, business services, and technology & software.
  • Targets privately held, founder- and family-owned businesses, typically with enterprise values in the ~$25M–$500M range.
  • Renkes personally concentrates on deal sourcing, transaction process management, and execution support — the engine room of getting a sell-side or capital-raise deal closed.
