Scott Schaen

Scott Schaen is a financial-services private-equity investor who spent most of his career at Pine Brook Road Partners, LLC, a New York growth-capital firm founded in 2006 that builds businesses in the energy and financial-services sectors. He joined Pine Brook's financial-services investment team in August 2010 and was promoted to Partner in January 2019, alongside Ted Maa. He also sat on the firm's Investment Committee. Announcing the promotion, William Spiegel, then co-president and head of the financial-services team, said "Scott's deep understanding of the financial services landscape has been a reliable source of new ideas for the firm."

Before Pine Brook, Schaen was a senior associate at Lightyear Capital, a middle-market private-equity firm focused on financial services (he joined in 2006), where he executed and monitored investments in the sector. He began his career as an investment banking analyst in the Global Power Group at Citigroup. He holds a B.B.A. from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business (Ross class note lists him as BBA '04).

At Pine Brook, Schaen represented the firm on the boards of several portfolio companies, including Green Bancorp, Clear Blue Financial Holdings LLC, Syndicate Holdings Corp, and Fidelis Insurance Holdings Limited, and worked on other financial-services investments such as Global Atlantic.
