Background
Selçuk Atlı is a serial technology entrepreneur, angel investor, and songwriter. He is a Fulbright Scholar and Endeavor Entrepreneur who holds five U.S. patents in social gaming and adtech (cited by companies including Google, Meta, Salesforce, Nike, and ByteDance). He was educated as a computer engineer, with a BS in Computer Engineering from Koç University, a master's from Politecnico di Milano, and a master's in Information Technology (with a Web Science concentration) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, which he attended as a Fulbright Scholar.
Atlı has founded and sold multiple companies. He founded and led Manifest, a product/retargeting adtech company that was acquired by Rakuten, and co-founded Boostable, which helped marketplace sellers buy ads online and was acquired by Metric Collective. He also co-founded Nomadic Mentors, a nonprofit that brought elite startup mentors to emerging tech hubs (later absorbed by The Family). He is a Y Combinator alumnus (Winter 2014 batch).
Most recently, Atlı is Co-Founder & CEO of Bunch, the group video-chat app built for playing mobile games together, which he founded in 2017. Bunch raised roughly $27–28M across several rounds, including a strategic "Series Games" round in 2019 from Supercell, Tencent, Riot Games, Miniclip, and Colopl Next, and a $20M Series A in 2020 led by General Catalyst with participation from Electronic Arts, Take-Two Interactive, Ubisoft, and Krafton. At its peak the app was used by more than 10 million players.
Alongside operating, Atlı has been an active early-stage investor. He served as a Venture Partner at 500 Startups (now 500 Global), is listed among the firm's mentors, and describes himself as an angel with 30+ investments. He now operates under the 500 Labs banner as a Co-Founding Partner. Outside of tech, he writes and records music under the name ATLI and released a debut album, *Heart Sized Revolutions*.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests primarily at the seed stage as an angel / early-stage backer, drawing on his experience as a repeat, YC-trained, adtech-and-gaming founder.
- Favors technical, mission-driven founders, often from international or emerging startup ecosystems — a theme reflected in his co-founding of Nomadic Mentors and his 500 Startups mentorship.
- Sector interests span consumer social and gaming, adtech/martech, developer tools, and enterprise applications/infrastructure — areas where he has operated or built patented technology.
- Brings hands-on operator value: he has taken products from zero to millions of users and has raised from top strategic and institutional investors, making him useful on product, growth, and fundraising strategy.
Notable Investments
- Stream (GetStream.io) — Chat and activity-feed API infrastructure for developers; participated as a new investor in Stream's $38M Series B (led by Felicis Ventures), March 2021.
