Seth Henry

Seth Henry brings more than 20 years of experience as a business lawyer helping entrepreneurs and investors build purpose-driven enterprises. He began his career at Davis, Graham & Stubbs (a Denver-based firm) and later practiced on his own, where he formed startups, closed financings from seed stage through IPO, developed domestic and international contracts, and handled M&A transactions across industries ranging from network security to aquaculture. He holds a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law.

At Blue Dot Advocates, Henry serves as Partner and Chief Sustainability Officer, and his practice centers on Companies, Funds, and Family Offices. He describes his reason for being a lawyer as helping bring "market-based solutions to social and environmental problems." He helped draft the legislation that brought the benefit corporation (public benefit corporation) form to Colorado, and he led Blue Dot's own effort to become Colorado's first Certified B Corp law firm in 2013.

Blue Dot Advocates has worked with global entrepreneurs since 2009 and concentrates on social enterprises as vehicles for impact investing. In 2017 the firm reorganized as a Public Benefit Cooperative (PBC). The firm's stated goal is to facilitate the flow of investment capital to financially scalable social enterprises addressing income inequality, extreme poverty, renewable energy, and sustainable development. Its lawyers have advised on impact-capital transactions averaging roughly $8–79 million per year, and its investor clients collectively hold investable assets exceeding $1 billion. As Chief Sustainability Officer, Henry is chiefly responsible for tracking the sustainability of everything the firm does and continues to work on initiatives that increase capital flow to enterprises committed to sustainability and social justice.

A Colorado native, Henry says his favorite place to be is outside — "especially getting lost on the side of a mountain."
