Shane Rogel

Shane Rogel is Managing Director and an Investment Committee member of South Suez Capital, which describes itself as one of Africa's first and largest independent private equity fund-of-funds managers, with a platform spanning more than 40 African countries and roughly $1.2 billion in assets under management. He has held his role at South Suez since around 2010 and is responsible for day-to-day management of the firm — including running the investment team, sourcing, the investment pipeline, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring of existing investments and their underlying portfolio companies. He also serves as a Director at All Seasons Capital Management Ltd.

His professional roots are in corporate and contract law, where he advised public, private and venture-capital companies on deal structuring, shareholder matters, corporate litigation, liquidations and insolvency inquiries. He describes his core areas of expertise as private equity, acquisitions and joint ventures. On his own account he has more than 15 years of experience across the South Suez and All Seasons boards and investment committees, building investment platforms and shaping IC processes across multiple market cycles, with a perspective grounded in Africa and frontier markets.

Educationally, Rogel completed an undergraduate degree at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (formerly the University of Port Elizabeth) around 1997 and earned an MBA from the University of Stellenbosch in 2016. He is based in Mauritius, where South Suez is licensed by the Financial Services Commission (and is also authorised in South Africa). He sits on the advisory boards of a number of African private equity funds and has been active with AVCA (the African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association), including committee work on compliance and best practices.
