Background

Sharon Doyle is the Executive Chair and majority owner of InterFinancial Corporate Finance, a Brisbane-based mid-market mergers-and-acquisitions and growth-advisory firm, and a Senior Partner and global board member of Clairfield International, the global M&A partnership of which InterFinancial is the exclusive Australian member. She has more than two decades of international experience leading merger, sale, acquisition and private-equity processes across a broad range of industries, regularly negotiating significant transactions on behalf of business founders, private-equity owners and listed boards. Under her leadership InterFinancial oversees a team of around 15 M&A specialists and is frequently ranked among the top 10 M&A practices in Australia and New Zealand.

Before her corporate-finance career, Doyle was Vice President of Strategic Planning and Integration at Mincom Limited, an Australian-headquartered global enterprise-software company, and earlier trained as a corporate lawyer (Allens/Linklaters). This blend of legal, software-industry and transaction experience underpins her particular expertise in the financial-services and technology sectors.

She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Information Technology (Distinction) from the Queensland University of Technology, and a Graduate Diploma of Business Administration from the University of Queensland. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD).

Beyond her advisory work, Doyle serves as a non-executive director of ASX-listed enterprise-software company TechnologyOne (ASX:TNE, appointed March 2018), general insurer Auto & General (the Budget Direct licensee), and the online comparison platform Compare the Market. InterFinancial celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2024/2025, and Doyle has been a long-standing public advocate for women in business and finance (profiled by Women in Banking and Finance and the AICD).

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Advises on mid-market M&A transactions, typically in the ~A$20m–A$250m enterprise-value range, rather than writing angel/seed cheques.
  • Deep specialisation in financial services and technology, extending into health and professional services.
  • Strong cross-border orientation — leverages the Clairfield International network so that a large share of InterFinancial's deals involve international buyers or targets.
  • Works primarily with founder-led businesses, private-equity owners and listed boards on sales, acquisitions, capital raises and strategic partnerships.
  • In her own words: *"I am passionate about getting the best result for both buyers and sellers in order to ensure their growth and value realisation is optimised."* She describes her strength as creatively identifying opportunities and designing solutions that benefit all parties.

Notable Investments

  • Protech → Proman — Advised Australian blue-collar labour-hire company Protech on a strategic equity partnership with French group Proman; Doyle sat on the deal team as Executive Chair.
  • iVolve — Cited by Doyle as one of InterFinancial's favourite long-term clients in a 2023 review of the firm's completed engagements.

  • Auto & General / Budget Direct — Non-executive director of the ~A$3bn-turnover general insurer.
