Simon Blausten

Simon Blausten is a Chartered Building Surveyor and Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS), holding an honours degree in Building Technology from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). He is a member of the Blausten family that founded the firm Cyril Leonard — the firm was established in 1934 by brothers Cyril and Leonard Blausten as surveyors, and Simon is a descendant of that founding family.

Simon joined Cyril Leonard in 1983 (some sources cite his involvement in the Building Consultancy department from 1982) and became an Equity Partner and Head of the firm's Project & Building Consultancy department. He served as Managing Director and part-owner of the firm until mid-2020, when he stepped back as part of a business succession plan and retired as a Director. He now continues with the firm as a Consultant within its Project & Building Consultancy team.

In mid-2020, alongside stepping back from Cyril Leonard, Simon founded SAB Tech Consult Ltd, where he is Founder and Managing Director. Through this vehicle he continues consultancy work in building surveying and project management, specialising in problem-solving, risk management, troubleshooting/auditing of property and construction projects, technical due diligence, development monitoring and expert-witness work. He is also a Director of Oakburn Properties Ltd (and related Oakburn entities such as Oakburn European Properties Ltd), where he is mainly responsible for financial and administrative management as well as strategic (property) investment policy. He has previously held both executive and non-executive directorships in public companies and continues to hold directorships in private companies.
