Background
Simon Morris is one of the UK's best-known creative entrepreneurs and marketers, a member of the UK Marketing Hall of Fame. He began his career in advertising before moving into entertainment and technology, serving as Marketing Director at SEGA (where he led the UK launch of *Sonic the Hedgehog* and drove record-breaking sales of *Sonic 2*), then working in early multichannel television at Sky and as Managing Director at Ginger Television, John Gusbins'/Chris Evans' production house behind *TFI Friday* and *Don't Forget Your Toothbrush*. He went on to co-found 365.com (Football 365, Rugby 365, Music 365), one of the UK's first major dot-coms, taking it from startup to IPO in roughly four years.
Morris became involved with LoveFilm at the end of 2003 as one of its original investors and served as Chief Marketing Officer from 2004, central to launching and building the LOVEFiLM brand to ~60% UK awareness through co-branded and platform partnerships (e.g., Odeon Direct, Tesco DVD Rental). After Amazon invested in 2008 and ultimately acquired the business, LoveFilm became the foundation of what is now Amazon Prime Video.
He subsequently joined Amazon, where he spent more than a decade as a global creative leader and was the company's Chief Creative Officer — work that included high-profile campaigns such as the Alexa Super Bowl spot and international expansion across markets like India, Japan and Australia. His career has earned multiple creative-industry awards and Emmy nominations.
Today Morris is active as an investor, board chair and advisor — Partner & Senior Advisor at the Adoreum network, Chairman of creative-technology business DO (DiO) and podcast-to-TV business Novel, a Governor of the Museum of London, and a keynote speaker on creativity, leadership, resilience and neurodiversity. He speaks openly about being neurodiverse (ADHD, depression and addiction in his history), arguing that "parts of neurodiversity are a superpower" when paired with the ability to hyper-focus.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Backs early-stage, often subscription-based consumer businesses as a founding investor and hands-on non-executive director, rather than a passive cheque-writer.
- Gravitates toward brands with a strong creative and storytelling proposition — consistent with his marketing-led background across SEGA, Sky, LoveFilm and Amazon.
- Increasingly invests in mission-driven and health/neurodiversity ventures (e.g., JAAQ.com, a neurodiversity/mental-health support platform), reflecting his personal advocacy.
- Views neurodiverse founders and teams as a competitive advantage — "parts of neurodiversity are a superpower… when combined with the ability to hyper-focus."
