Smaiyra Million

Smaiyra Million is a Boston-area operator, investor, educator, and entrepreneurship ecosystem builder. Wentworth Institute of Technology lists her in 2026 as Founder of soa Ventures LLC, and Babson Executive Education lists her as an Industry Fellow. Junior Achievement of Greater Boston lists her as Past Chair, describing her as an educator, entrepreneur, CEO, and board member.

Before moving into investing and entrepreneurship education, Million spent about 30 years operating luxury hotels, spas, and health clubs. She worked for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company for a decade in operations and sales roles, including international property openings, and was part of the Ritz-Carlton team that won the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 1992.

Million joined The Sports Club/LA in 1998 as a general manager, became COO in 2006, and was promoted to CEO of Millennium Partners Sports Club Management in 2011. Highland Consumer Partners later said she had helped create the operating company that managed seven Sports Club/LA and Reebok Sports Club-branded clubs, generating more than $100 million in revenue across five states. She was named to the Boston Business Journal's Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts in 2011, 2012, and 2013, and was inducted into YW Boston's Academy of Women Achievers in 2014.

In 2015, Million joined Highland Consumer Partners as an Operating Partner. The firm described itself as a growth-stage venture capital firm focused on consumer companies, and said she would support portfolio management and new transaction analysis. She also served as an investor-in-residence at Babson College, a mentor for Harvard Business School's Rock Center for Entrepreneurship, senior director of strategic initiatives at Babson's Center for Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership, director of the Butler Institute for Free Enterprise Through Entrepreneurship, and, beginning in 2021, executive director of Babson's Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship. Her LinkedIn profile lists American University from 1981 to 1985.
