Sohail Prasad

Sohail Prasad is a technology entrepreneur and prolific angel investor best known for founding Equidate in 2014 — the private-securities marketplace that later became Forge Global (NYSE: FRGE). He co-founded the company with Samvit Ramadurgam after the two met in Y Combinator's 2012 summer batch. Under Prasad, Forge grew into a marketplace transacting billions of dollars in pre-IPO stock annually, amassing over $14B in assets under custody and raising more than $250M from institutions including Temasek, Deutsche Börse, BNP Paribas, Wells Fargo, and Munich Re. In September 2021 Forge announced it would go public via a ~$2B SPAC merger with Motive Capital Corp, becoming the first dedicated private-shares trading platform to list publicly. The `equidateinc.com` email in the stub data reflects this original Equidate identity.

Prasad was among the youngest founders ever admitted to Y Combinator, joining at age 18. Before Forge he managed mobile product at Zynga, was the second engineering hire at mobile-advertising firm Chartboost, and held roles connected to Google and the MIT Media Lab. He attended the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science and studied Electrical & Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University before leaving to pursue startups, and is a Thiel Fellowship recipient. He was named TCU's Texas Youth Entrepreneur of the Year in 2010.

In 2021 Prasad and Forge co-founders raised roughly $5M to build a new, then-stealth investing startup, which became Destiny (D/XYZ) — an investment-management firm that gives public-market retail investors access to private tech companies (its Destiny Tech100 fund trades on the NYSE as DXYZ). Alongside his operating roles, Prasad has been an active angel investor for over a decade, advising and investing in 150+ startups and backing more than a dozen eventual unicorns. He now syndicates deals through S2 Capital, where he is Founding Partner.

• Invests mainly at seed/pre-seed, occasionally into Series A, favoring technical founders.
• In his own words, he looks for "companies that have a real business" and startups that "leverage emerging trends and are led by technical founders" — explicitly "not trying to find the latest cool app or me-too company."
• Comfortable with frontier and deep tech (space, robotics) as well as fintech, SaaS, and marketplaces.
• Personal angel checks typically $100K–$500K; larger allocations pooled through the S2 Capital syndicate (he now directs would-be co-investors to S2 rather than his older personal AngelList syndicate).
• Strong affinity for YC-stage companies (pre-YC and current batch), reflecting his own YC roots.
