Sorrell M. Mathes is Chairman of The Mathes Company, Inc., a New York-based investment adviser established in 1997 and registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The firm manages discretionary portfolios for U.S. and overseas investors, including individuals and institutions, and its only office is in New York City.
Before founding The Mathes Company, Mathes held senior investment-banking and asset-management roles. His firm biography says he was a Managing Director at Merrill Lynch, where he headed Emerging Growth Companies and Technology Investment Banking and served as Chairman of Merrill Lynch Venture Capital. He later became Managing Director and head of Corporate Finance at Prudential Securities and spent two years as President of Clariden Asset Management (New York) Inc., a Clariden Bank Zurich subsidiary. Earlier, he was a Managing Director at Warburg Paribas Becker before its acquisition by Merrill Lynch.

He also chaired The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary board before its merger into the Mount Sinai hospital system.
