Background

Srini Panguluri is a Stanford-educated technology entrepreneur (Computer Science and Economics) and a two-time Y Combinator founder. Early in his career he was a Project Leader at Oracle before moving into startups. In the mid-2000s he co-founded WebShaka, Inc. in Palo Alto, the company behind YouOS — an early, widely-discussed "web operating system" — alongside collaborators including Jeff Mellen, Joe Wong, and Sam Hsiung.

WebShaka also produced Project Wedding, a wedding-planning platform that Panguluri built and ultimately sold to eHarmony; he then joined eHarmony as a Director to help run the acquired platform. In 2011 he co-founded Egomotion Corp in San Francisco with Kulveer Taggar and Omar Seyal, a developer of productivity and social apps that raised roughly $2.1M before being wound down.

In 2016 Panguluri co-founded Zeus Living with Kulveer Taggar and Joe Wong, serving as Chief Operating Officer. The corporate/long-term housing marketplace went through Y Combinator and grew rapidly, attracting backers including Airbnb and Initialized Capital. The company reportedly raised on the order of $150M and reached a ~$269M valuation in 2022, survived a near-death moment during COVID, and ultimately wound down operations in late 2023.

As an operator-turned-angel, Panguluri invests personally in early-stage companies, drawing on his repeat-founder experience across consumer, marketplace, and enterprise software.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests at the seed / pre-seed stage, writing small angel checks (~$50K).
  • Leans toward software and enterprise-application startups, consistent with his own building background in web software, marketplaces, and consumer products.
  • Brings an operator's lens — as a multi-time YC founder (YouOS, Egomotion, Zeus Living) and someone who has scaled and exited products, he is positioned to back technical, product-driven founders.
  • Note: publicly documented angel activity is limited; his one clearly recorded deal (LaunchBit, 2012) suggests he backs founders/teams he knows within the YC and Bay Area startup network rather than deploying a formal fund.

Notable Investments

  • LaunchBit — email-newsletter ad marketplace; angel/seed investment in 2012 (~$50K check). LaunchBit later pivoted and became Giveo/BuySellAds-adjacent adtech.
