Background

Stephen Down is a longtime foodservice and distribution finance executive with more than 30 years of experience. He earned a B.A. in Economics and an M.B.A. in Finance and Corporate Accounting from the University of Rochester, and later completed continuing-education coursework in Mergers and Acquisitions at the University of Chicago.

His career has centered on large food-distribution operators. He served as Chief Financial Officer of The Martin-Brower Co., a roughly $5 billion international distribution company and McDonald's supply-chain partner, where he led accounting, internal controls, and financial planning across 31 distribution centers in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. He then became Senior Vice President of Broadline Finance at U.S. Foods, Inc., overseeing 400-plus field finance staff and approximately $20 billion in sales across 62 locations shipping more than 650 million cases annually. Most recently before National DCP, he was Chief Financial Officer of Shamrock Foods Company, the roughly $5 billion, family-held foodservice distribution, dairy, and food-manufacturing business based in Phoenix, Arizona.

Down joined National DCP as Chief Financial Officer in August 2022, reporting to then-CEO Scott Carter. On December 19, 2023, following an external industry search, NDCP's board promoted him to Chief Executive Officer. National DCP is a roughly $3 billion supply-chain management organization that provides strategic sourcing, distribution, logistics, and restaurant-technology services to Dunkin' franchisees. As of the 2024 board announcement he leads the company as CEO.
