Sterling Brewster

Sterling Harrison Brewster is a Southern California native and University of Southern California ("USC Trojan") entrepreneur who co-founded and served as President of 1st Round, a venture he built with USC classmate and fraternity brother (Phi Kappa Psi) Teague Egan. The company began around 2008 out of Egan's USC dorm room — first hosting music and entertainment events around Los Angeles — and grew into a multi-division "full-service sports franchise" modeled loosely on Nike, with divisions reportedly spanning Sports, Records, Pictures, Entertainment, Capital, and Philanthropic. Brewster was one of Egan's earliest partners in the enterprise. Egan drew press attention in October 2010 as, at 22, one of the youngest NFLPA-certified contract agents.

Brewster's most public role was as President of 1st Round Sports / 1st Round Athletics, the group's athletic-apparel arm built around EnergyDNA® — a proprietary infrared fabric technology the company said converts body heat into energy that increases oxygen delivery to muscles (marketing cited clinical results of a 7–12% increase). Under Brewster, 1st Round Athletics ran a crowdfunding push (a Kickstarter campaign announced in February 2014, plus an Indiegogo project listed under his name) and signed dozens of professional athletes to wear the gear, including endorsers such as NFL linebacker Jordan Campbell and Olympic gold-medal sprinter Shawn Crawford. During his USC years, Brewster (with Egan) also drew brief national coverage in 2010 for an NCAA rules incident involving a golf-cart ride given to USC running back Dillon Baxter.

Brewster earned a B.A. in American History (Pre-Law emphasis) from USC. He is also a Founding Member / Global Fellow of Kairos (the young-founder network and startup studio associated with Kairos HQ), a role centered on connecting young entrepreneurs with corporations and investors — the likely basis for his classification as an angel/seed-stage investor.

Since his 1st Round years, Brewster's career has shifted toward business development and medical-device sales.
