Background

Steve Wong joined HarbourVest in 2019 and focuses on growth equity and buyout co-investments in the Asia Pacific region. HarbourVest Partners is an independent global private markets firm whose platform spans primary funds, secondary transactions, direct co-investments, real assets and infrastructure, and private credit.

Before HarbourVest, Wong spent eight years at TPG Growth as a vice president focused on growth equity investments in China. He was also a director at Rivendell Partners in Hong Kong, where he focused on mid-market buyouts in Greater China. Earlier in his career, he held roles at McKinsey & Company, Thomson Reuters, and Arthur D. Little Management Consulting.

Wong received a BS in Chemical Engineering in 1998 and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management in 2006, both from Northwestern University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin.

One current-status caveat: MarketScreener lists Wong as a private equity investor at HarbourVest Partners (Asia) Ltd.; a Hong Kong SFC public-register mirror lists “Cheuk Kwan Wong” as a representative of HarbourVest Partners (Asia) Limited from January 2019 to January 2024. I did not find a current official HarbourVest bio page for Steve Wong.
