Steven Begleiter

Steven L. Begleiter is a Vice Chairman at Flexpoint Ford, a Chicago- and New York–based private equity firm that has raised over $4.3 billion in capital and specializes in privately negotiated investments in the financial services and healthcare industries. He joined the firm in October 2008, served as a Managing Director from 2008 to 2025, and now holds the Vice Chairman role. The firm, founded in 2005, has completed more than 90 investments across complementary private equity and asset-oriented credit strategies and most recently closed Flexpoint Fund IV and Flexpoint Overage Fund IV with $2.0 billion of committed capital.

Before joining Flexpoint Ford, Begleiter spent 24 years at Bear Stearns & Co., the last 15 of them in the Financial Institutions Group, advising domestic and international clients on advisory and financing transactions. He rose to Senior Managing Director, sat on the firm's Management and Compensation Committee from 2000 to 2008, led the Corporate Strategy Group, and held responsibility for Asset Management in 2007–2008 — placing him at the center of the firm during its 2008 collapse. He received a B.A. in economics, with honors, from Haverford College (1984).

Begleiter is an active corporate director. He was appointed to the board of MarketAxess Holdings Inc. (an electronic fixed-income trading platform) in April 2012, joined the board of WisdomTree, Inc., and has served as a board member of Clearstead, in addition to board seats at Flexpoint Ford portfolio companies in financial services and healthcare.

Outside of finance, Begleiter is well known in the poker world: months after Bear Stearns failed, he reached the "November Nine" final table of the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event, finishing in 6th place for roughly $1.59 million — a story widely covered as a Wall Street–to–poker-table second act.
