Background

Stig Hølledig is a Danish serial entrepreneur turned professional business angel and board member. He holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Aalborg University. He began his career in 1985 as an Oracle consultant at TPI, and in 1988 bought the company — the starting point for building up a group of IT consultancy firms (including TPI, Syap and SapTech) that were merged into COREBIT A/S. At its peak COREBIT employed around 220 people, had a turnover exceeding DKK 200 million and operated international subsidiaries. He sold COREBIT to IconMedialab in 2000, an exit that effectively launched his full-time investing career. In parallel (roughly 1994–2001) he acquired and sold a majority stake in Sybase Denmark A/S to Sybase Inc.

Since exiting his operating businesses, Hølledig has spent more than 14 years as an active business angel, reporting investments in around a dozen companies. He has been a member of DanBAN (Danish Business Angels) since 2002 and is a co-founder and board member of the business-angel network BA-Copenhagen. He was named "Business Angel of the Year" by the DVCA (the Danish Venture Capital and Private Equity Association) three times — in 2010, 2012 and 2016 — one of the more decorated angels on the Danish scene.

Today he combines capital with governance, sitting on the boards of several of his portfolio companies. He has been Chairman of the Board of Codesealer A/S since 2022 and a board member/investor in Colibo A/S since 2017. In 2007 he also completed an ICF-accredited coaching certification, reflecting his hands-on, mentoring approach to founders. He owns the historic Næsseslottet manor in Holte, which he operates as an exclusive office hotel.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Sector: Concentrates on "IT companies within software and consultancy services" — B2B software, SaaS and IT security rather than consumer or deep-hardware plays.
  • Value-add model: In his own words, he invests "in companies, whereby I contribute with both capital and experience to develop the company successfully" — capital plus operating/board experience, not passive money.
  • Governance-led: Frequently takes a chairman or board seat (Codesealer, Contractbook, Colibo, Scott/Tiger), signaling he wants real influence and a hands-on role in scaling.
  • Syndicated angel deals: Regularly co-invests alongside other high-profile Danish angels (e.g., Henrik Holmark, Lars-Erik Christensen, Henrik Müller, Thomas Black-Petersen) through DanBAN / BA-Copenhagen networks.
  • Track record over hype: His pitch emphasizes portfolio companies that show strong, measurable growth in turnover and revenue — he looks for businesses that can build durable commercial traction, not just narratives.
