Background
Sundeep Peechu is a Managing Partner and founding member of Felicis, where he has been part of the firm since 2010. Felicis says he led investments in Mercor, Coalition, Plaid, and Komodo Health, as well as investments in companies that later went public, including Ginkgo Bioworks, Matterport, Recursion Pharma, and Wish.
Before Felicis, Peechu worked in technical and product roles. He was an early employee at Sarvega, responsible for security infrastructure design, and joined Intel after Intel acquired Sarvega. Third-party profile data also lists him as a Product Manager at Intel from 2005 to 2008 and a technical lead/architect at Sarvega from 2001 to 2005.
Peechu has a technical and business education: Felicis says he holds computer science degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, plus an MBA from Stanford.
At Felicis, his public focus areas are Health & Bio and Artificial Intelligence. His recent writing covers AI infrastructure and energy, AI-native labor markets, construction permitting, healthcare administration, security screening, and the future of proactive healthcare.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Felicis describes its strategy as backing “early conviction” companies; its site says 94% of investments are Seed or Series A and that the firm can move from first meeting to term sheet in 24 hours.
- Peechu’s own framing of venture is that it fits “high-risk / high-reward businesses that mostly fail but if successful, can compound value, retain it for years, and produce large outliers.”
- In AI, he looks for software that moves beyond traditional SaaS productivity into “co-pilot” and “autopilot” systems that can automate structured work, including recruiting, sales development, phones, copywriting, and back-office workflows.
- In healthcare, he argues that healthcare is complex but enormous and under-automated, with opportunities in proactive diagnostics, quantified health, patient data portability, healthspan, brain health, and AI-driven administration.
- In AI infrastructure and energy, he has argued that power is becoming a central constraint for AI and that companies solving power generation may become among the most valuable companies of the coming decade.
- In evaluation and data infrastructure, Felicis’s Arena investment highlights interest in real-world, human-in-the-loop benchmarking as AI models proliferate.
- He appears to value founder clarity and technical depth: in Felicis’s Endurance Energy post, he wrote that what stood out about founder Andrew Redd was the ability to take questions “down to the physics and back up to the spreadsheet.”
