Background

Thomas A. Rizk is the Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Rizk Ventures, a privately held New York City investment and operating firm he established with Linda Rizk (Co-Founder & CFO) in 2013. He has more than three decades of experience as an executive and entrepreneur, and the firm and its team report responsibility for over $10 billion of capital transactions across acquisitions and financings in multiple asset classes. Rizk holds a B.A. from Rutgers University and studied at New York University School of Law.

Rizk first rose to prominence in commercial real estate. In 1994 he led his family's real estate partnership, Cali Associates, through its IPO as Cali Realty Corporation, a NYSE-listed REIT. As President and CEO, he grew the portfolio from 12 properties at IPO to more than 250 properties totaling over 28 million square feet, expanding total market capitalization from roughly $300 million to over $3.6 billion while completing more than $3 billion in acquisitions. In 1997 he led the merger of Cali Realty with the Mack Company (and Patriot American's office group) to form Mack-Cali Realty, of which he became CEO before departing in 1999.

In 2000, Rizk founded TractManager Inc., which became a recognized leader in technology-based contract-management and provider-credentialing solutions for healthcare organizations; he served as its Chairman and CEO until 2013. The successful growth and eventual sale of TractManager anchors Rizk Ventures' deep expertise in healthcare, technology, and SaaS. He has also remained an active private real estate investor and has served as Chairman & CEO of Workspace Property Trust, and as a special advisor to Counter Human Trafficking Compliance Solutions.

Today Rizk Ventures positions itself as "by Founders, for Founders," operating as a vertically integrated real estate investment manager and a company-building platform that partners with entrepreneurs to launch and scale businesses. The firm reports having founded more than a dozen companies and grown to a large operating organization spanning real estate, healthcare, and technology, and it maintains a philanthropic focus on military, community, and education initiatives.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests and operates across three core verticals: real estate, healthcare, and technology, with a stated emphasis on healthcare technology that uses advanced tools (including AI and machine learning) to attack operational inefficiency and rising costs in healthcare settings.
  • Runs a "special situations" and company-building model — Rizk Ventures both founds/incubates companies (via its LaunchTech arm) and invests in or acquires existing ones, rather than acting purely as a passive check-writer.
  • Top disclosed portfolio sectors are Enterprise Applications and HealthTech (per aggregator data), consistent with its SaaS and healthcare-operations heritage from TractManager.
  • Firm ethos ("Championing Teamwork and Insight," "Outwork the Rest," "Data Drives Victory") signals a preference for hands-on, operator-led partnerships with founders and data-driven businesses.
  • Willing to take controlling/operating roles and pursue mergers of portfolio companies (e.g., combining complementary healthcare and edtech assets) to build integrated platforms.

Notable Investments

  • Rightway — healthcare navigation / pharmacy benefits company associated with the firm's portfolio; cited among its most successful outcomes (reported as a unicorn).
  • TractManager Inc. — healthcare contract-management and credentialing SaaS founded by Rizk in 2000; grown and sold, a foundational exit for the firm.
  • Mack-Cali Realty — NYSE-listed office REIT formed via the 1997 Cali Realty merger Rizk led; a public-company outcome tied to his track record.
  • Rizk Ventures Healthcare Analytics (RVHA) — healthcare consulting/advisory firm focused on cost management and revenue/process optimization for hospitals.
  • Classroom24-7 — online education / distance-learning technology company acquired by Rizk Ventures and merged into RVHA in 2017 to train hospital staff and providers.
