Background
Todd Pietri is a Managing Partner and co-founder of Activate Venture Partners, an early-stage venture firm focused on tech-enabled healthcare and applied technology. He has worked as a venture capitalist for more than 20 years, participating in over 50 equity financings and serving as a director or board observer for more than 30 companies. In 1999 he co-founded Milestone Venture Partners alongside Ed Goodman; Milestone was later reconstituted/rebranded as Activate Venture Partners (founded 2017), of which Pietri and the predecessor funds are the antecedents. Across these vehicles he has originated and/or led dozens of investments in software, data, and tech-enabled services businesses, the majority in the digital health sector, where he has built a network of founder relationships.
Before venture capital, Todd was co-head of the Technology and Communications Investment Banking Group at Legacy Securities and a member of Legacy's direct investment team, which provided mezzanine and growth equity through its affiliate Legacy Capital Partners. Earlier in his career he was an associate at a middle-market private equity firm (Callier Interest) and held IT consulting and direct-sales roles at an ERP software firm (CompuSystems).
He holds a BA, cum laude, in English from Duke University and an MBA from the Robinson School of Business at Georgia State University, where he graduated first in his class. He is also a CFP charterholder. He has served as an advisory board member for the Healthcare Advisory Board of the Partnership for New York City.
