Background
Tom Falcon is an Operating Partner at Elysian Capital LLP, a London-based lower mid-market private equity firm founded in 2007 that backs management buyouts, buy-ins and build-ups. He joined the firm in 2015 as one of its first full-time, in-house operating partners, bringing more than 20 years of operational management and board-level experience across multiple sectors and continents. His role is operational and value-creation oriented — working hands-on with portfolio company management teams — rather than that of a deal-sourcing investment partner.
Before Elysian, Falcon built an industrial operating career. From 2008 to 2014 he was Production and Distribution Director at Shepherd Neame, Britain's oldest brewer, based in Kent. Immediately prior to joining Elysian he advised oil-and-gas portfolio companies owned by private equity firm Doughty Hanson on strategy and business-improvement programmes, bridging the operating and investing worlds.
He was educated at the University of Edinburgh and holds an MBA from INSEAD. Reflecting Elysian's operating-partner model, Falcon has also taken board roles at portfolio companies — notably serving as Chairman of The Pebble Group (a promotional-products platform Elysian formed around Facilisgroup and Brand Addition) from roughly 2017 to 2019, in the run-up to that group's 2019 London Stock Exchange IPO.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Elysian invests in lower mid-market UK companies via MBOs, MBIs and build-up strategies — established, profitable businesses, not early-stage startups.
- The firm's stated approach is "acquisition with management" — backing "aspirational management teams" and acting as "true partners, in sincere alignment with the management teams we back," rather than a purely financial owner.
- Falcon's specific value-add is operational: as an operating partner he is deployed into portfolio companies to drive operational improvement, production/distribution efficiency and board-level governance — the lever that makes Elysian say yes is a strong management team that wants an operationally engaged partner.
- Sector coverage is diversified: healthcare, business services, industrials, energy & utilities, and IT.
Notable Investments
- The Pebble Group — promotional-products platform formed by Elysian (combining Facilisgroup and Brand Addition); Falcon served as Chairman (~2017–2019); IPO'd on the London Stock Exchange in 2019.
- Facilisgroup (Facilis Group) — US-based SaaS and group-services provider for the promotional-products industry; acquired by Elysian in November 2018 and folded into The Pebble Group.
- Brand Addition — global promotional merchandise business, part of The Pebble Group.
- Gravity Global — marketing/communications group; subject of an Elysian Capital III LP investment.
