Background
Troy Iskarpatyoti is a private-credit and private-equity investor who spent more than a decade at Graycliff Partners LP, a New York–based lower-middle-market firm, before joining Balance Point Capital Advisors, LLC on its investment team in November 2025. He began his career as an analyst in the Industrials Group at Jefferies, where he worked on M&A and leveraged-finance transactions, and joined Graycliff in 2015.
At Graycliff he progressed from Associate (2015–2019) to Vice President (2019–2023) and ultimately Principal. Over his tenure he drove origination, underwriting, deal execution, and portfolio management across the firm's credit and equity strategies, with the latter half of his time focused specifically on Graycliff's dedicated credit fund and minority-equity co-investments. His deal experience spans industrials, business services, manufacturing, distribution, and consumer sectors, and a variety of transaction types including private equity, independent-sponsor, and unsponsored financings.
He holds a Bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University, with a concentration in economics, mathematics, and financial economics. On November 6, 2025, Balance Point announced his hire, with Managing Partner Seth Alvord saying the firm was "confident his experience and perspective will make a meaningful impact on the firm's continued growth."
Note: The stub description labeling Troy as an "Angel Investor" writing "Seed Round" checks does not match the public record — his work is institutional lower-middle-market credit and equity, not early-stage angel investing.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Focuses on lower-middle-market companies, providing both credit (unitranche/mezzanine debt) and minority/control equity capital — an institutional strategy, not seed/angel checks.
- Sector experience concentrated in industrials, business services, manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, and IT/managed services.
- Comfortable across transaction structures: private equity, independent-sponsor deals, and unsponsored (direct) financings.
- Looks for durable "platform" businesses and favorable secular tailwinds — e.g., on the Newair deal he cited "the tremendous tailwinds in the eCommerce market," and on Worklyn he pointed to "a compelling platform in the IT services space."
Notable Investments
- AW Industries, LLC (Newair) — branded smart-design small/medium appliances sold via eCommerce; Graycliff provided a unitranche credit facility plus a minority equity co-investment (June 2021).
- Worklyn Partners (NOYNIM IT Solutions / NetXperts) — IT services and managed-services platform for SMBs and state/local/education customers in the Mountain West; Graycliff provided a unitranche debt investment supporting Worklyn's acquisition of NOYNIM (August 2023).
