Background

Dr. Uwe Albrecht is a physicist by training. He studied physics at the University of Washington in Seattle and at Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität in Mainz, and earned his doctorate in surface physics at the University of Konstanz. From 1993 he spent many years in innovation management and technology consulting at Mannesmann and Siemens.

For over eight years he built and ran Siemens AG's corporate venture arm, Siemens Venture Capital, most recently as Managing Partner. There he was responsible for developing the group's investment business, focusing on international investments in young technology companies in the industrial and energy sectors. He also gained operating/entrepreneurial experience as managing director (CEO) of Ludwig-Bölkow-Systemtechnik GmbH, a consultancy specializing in energy and environmental technology.

Albrecht has worked at FIDURA as a fund manager and Partner since 2008. FIDURA Private Equity Fonds — founded in 2001 by Klaus Ragotzky and headquartered at Schloßstraße 23 in Grünwald near Munich — initiates closed-end private equity funds that have raised roughly €110 million from about 4,000 mostly private investors. As a PhD physicist with a deep industrial network, Albrecht's role is to source and evaluate technology deal flow and to give the fund continuous access to interesting investment opportunities. The firm positions itself as an active, hands-on investor that backs companies selected under explicit ethical and sustainability criteria.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Invests in growth-oriented, innovative small and mid-sized technology companies in German-speaking countries, typically writing checks of €300k–€3m and taking minority stakes.
  • Stage focus spans startup, early-stage and expansion financing — in practice Series A/B and growth rounds, often as lead investor alongside co-financiers.
  • Deep bias toward hard-tech / deep-tech: semiconductors, sensors and microsystems, biotech, automation, nanotechnology, new materials, optics, energy and IT — matching Albrecht's physics and industrial-VC background.
  • Selects companies under ethical and sustainability criteria ("nachhaltige Investments"), a defining feature FIDURA markets to its retail investor base.
  • Values entrepreneurial, active ownership: the management team emphasizes hands-on support of portfolio companies rather than passive capital.

Notable Investments

  • VEACT GmbH — Munich-based automotive/marketing data-management (CRM analytics) company; FIDURA led the Series B (2018) alongside Bayern Kapital, KfW, Senovo, Seventure Partners and UVC Partners. Exited in June 2026 via sale to Infomedia Pty. Ltd. (Sydney).
  • Senorics GmbH — Dresden-based organic-semiconductor / miniaturized near-infrared sensing company; backed via Series A (2021).
  • m2p-labs GmbH — microbioreactor and lab-automation systems for bioprocess development; Series A (2013).
  • SensorDynamics AG — Austrian MEMS/semiconductor sensor and wireless-technology company (automotive and consumer); backed in a Series B (2007).
  • mechatronic Systemtechnik GmbH — Austrian manufacturer of automated wafer-handling systems; exited in 2017.
  • WEBfactory GmbH — industrial IoT / web-based industrial automation and visualization software.
