Background
Vincent Love is a consumer-sector investor with more than 25 years of experience across investment banking, growth equity, and operating roles. In April 2025 he joined NewRoad Capital Partners as a Partner, where he sets investment strategy and oversees all aspects of the investment process for the firm's Consumer industry investments. NewRoad, headquartered in Northwest Arkansas with deep ties to the Walmart ecosystem, manages more than $650 million across four funds.
Before NewRoad, Love co-founded and served as Managing Partner / Managing Director of Investments at Sunrise Strategic Partners, a Boulder, Colorado growth-equity firm he helped launch in 2016 to accelerate emerging food and beverage brands in the healthy, active, and sustainable living space. At Sunrise he was responsible for originating, conducting due diligence on, structuring, and monitoring the firm's investments, building it into one of the preeminent better-for-you food and beverage investors on Colorado's Front Range.
Earlier in his career, Love spent over a decade at Citigroup in investment banking, focused on the consumer and retail sectors, where he advised on more than $40 billion in liquidity events. Representative transactions included Boulder Brands' acquisitions of Udi's Healthy Foods and Glutino, Colgate-Palmolive's acquisition of the Sanex brand, the sale of Peet's Coffee & Tea, and the IPO and split-off of Mead Johnson Nutrition. Before Citigroup he worked in Scotia Capital's Mergers & Acquisitions group.
Love holds an MBA from New York University's Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Manitoba's Asper School of Business. He is also a hands-on operator: he owns and operates five Planet Fitness franchise clubs in Colorado and Wyoming.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests in consumer businesses — food & beverage (especially better-for-you / healthy, active, sustainable living), personal care, and multi-unit franchising.
- Targets companies past the startup phase: those with a proven proof of concept and traction (historically ~$20–50M+ revenue at Sunrise) that need growth capital and operating expertise to scale rapidly.
- Emphasizes founder readiness over raw capital: *"You should bootstrap your business until you are ready for the funding, so it can help you scale rapidly."*
- Backs strong leadership and "wonderful human beings" who run quality teams, and looks for a credible, productive use of capital.
- Views the investor–founder relationship as a long-term partnership: founders should *"pick your investor very carefully"* because the relationship is hard to unwind; he sees himself as a *"steward of someone's capital."*
