Background
Dr. Vladas Lašas is one of Lithuania's best-known serial entrepreneurs, angel investors, and public figures. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), where he studied, lectured, and conducted research in computer vision. He remains connected to KTU as an honorary/visiting figure — an ambassador for its Startup Space incubator, a long-time sponsor of Startup Weekend Lithuania, a supporter of the LitSat-1 nano-satellite project, and a member of Master's thesis commissions at its School of Economics and Management.
His operating career centers on companies he founded and co-owns. He is the founder and General Director of Skubios Siuntos, the authorized UPS network representative in Lithuania (based in Klaipėda), and a co-owner of the Elinta group — including Elinta UAB (one of Lithuania's largest industrial and power-plant automation providers), Elinvision UAB (computer-vision R&D), Elinta Charge (EV charging technology), and Globaltus UAB (global e-commerce). This blend of logistics, industrial automation, and computer vision underpins his hands-on, engineering-literate approach to backing deeptech founders.
Beyond business, Lašas is active in sustainability and social impact. In 2010 he co-established the non-profit Carbon War Room alongside Sir Richard Branson and other entrepreneurs to accelerate cuts in carbon-dioxide emissions, and he invests in sustainable and renewable-energy projects in Europe through GRE Holding. In 2012 he received the international Business for Peace Award (the "Oslo Business for Peace Award") from the Business for Peace Foundation for socially responsible enterprise and solutions to globally important problems.
Today Lašas is best known in the startup ecosystem as Chairman of the Board of LitBAN, the Lithuanian Business Angel Network, and as an Executive Advisor at GrayBella Capital. He is a leading voice arguing that innovative tech startups thrive where business angels support them from the very earliest stage, and he is a vocal advocate for Lithuania's participation in the space industry and collaboration with agencies such as NASA and ESA.
Investment Thesis & Focus
- Invests primarily at pre-seed and seed, backing very early companies where a hands-on angel can add the most value.
- Strong tilt toward deeptech and hard problems: space/aerospace, climate and clean energy, industrial technology, AI and computer vision, health, and education — reflecting his own engineering background.
- Sees the angel's role as more than capital: he is recognized for mentoring founders and sharing his network, time, and knowledge (the basis of his 2026 Peter Cowley "Invested Investor" award).
- Core belief in his own words: *"innovative tech startups are successful and grow in places where they receive help from business angels from the very beginning"* — he prioritizes early, active support over passive check-writing.
- Values mission-driven, socially and environmentally impactful ventures, consistent with his Carbon War Room and GRE Holding sustainability work.
- Typically invests as part of, or alongside, the LitBAN syndicate, extending deal flow across the Baltics and Nordics.
