Wayne Berger

Wayne Berger is a South African technology entrepreneur and the Managing Partner of iShack Ventures, a venture builder that incubates and invests in startups across PropTech, FinTech and EduTech. He is also the founder and chairman of iShack Innovation Consultancy, which he established in 2005 to advise local and international corporations on digital advertising and software development — its client roster has included Internet Solutions, Walt Disney, Warner Bros, Growthpoint Property Fund, L'Oréal, Canon and CliffCentral.

Berger holds a B.Comm in Informatics and an Investment Honours degree, both from RAU (Rand Afrikaans University, now the University of Johannesburg), and completed an MBA at IE Business School in Madrid in 2011. He is a registered Principal Real Estate Practitioner with South Africa's Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB) and has earned additional certifications in Gamification and in New Venture Finance / startup funding for entrepreneurs.

Beyond building companies, Berger has been an organizer of South Africa's startup and proptech ecosystem. In 2014 he co-founded Venture Network South Africa, a non-profit venture-capital community that runs quarterly networking events connecting startups with its investor base. He went on to co-found the South African PropTech Association (2018) and PropTech Africa (2019) to accelerate adoption of property technology across the continent. He is also the founder and executive chairman of Instant Property, a Johannesburg-based real-estate portal and rentals platform.
