Will Petter

Will Petter is currently Co-Founder and CEO of American Dream Home Services, a platform focused on helping home-services business owners transition their companies into an employee-owned model. American Dream Home Services describes its purpose as giving owners an exit path that rewards owners financially, preserves legacy, and benefits employees.

Before American Dream Home Services, Petter worked in investment banking and private equity. American Dream Legacy Advisors says he has more than 15 years of experience in investment banking and private equity, working with founders on ownership transitions. MarketScreener reports that Will M. Petter formerly worked at B-29 Investments, LP as Vice President from 2017 to 2022, and that he also served as CFO of Axis Energy Services from 2017 to 2022 and CFO of ShopSeptember from 2012 to 2019.

His earlier training includes graduate study at Tulane University, where MarketScreener reports he received a graduate degree in 2009, and USC Marshall School of Business, where he received a graduate degree in 2010. LinkedIn also lists him as a Certified Employee Ownership Advisor through Project Equity, a CPA, and holder of FINRA Series 63 and Series 79 credentials.

American Dream Home Services says its ideal business has up to $10M in revenue, positive EBITDA, manageable debt, growth potential, high customer satisfaction, and values aligned with employee empowerment, legacy preservation, and community impact.
• His stated rationale is that traditional private equity exits can harm employees and culture. Project Equity quotes him saying he wanted “a better way” after seeing traditional exits leave employees behind and owners conflicted about legacy.
• He favors employee ownership and ESOP structures where they fit the owner’s goals. Project Equity quotes him saying employee ownership can help owners “transition confidently while creating shared prosperity for their teams.”
• At B-29, the investment approach was hands-on energy private equity. B-29 says its team looks for equity investment opportunities where it can act as owner/operators and integrate into day-to-day management.
• B-29’s documented sector focus is energy services, exploration and production, and midstream/logistics. The firm says it has no external timeline pressure and is comfortable holding investments through cycles or into perpetuity.
