Background

Yrjö Kopra is a co-founder, Partner, and CEO of Alexander Group Oy, the parent company of Aktia Alexander Corporate Finance Ltd — a Helsinki-based Finnish investment bank established in 1988 that advises on IPOs, capital-market transactions, M&A, and company valuations. He holds an LL.M. from the University of Helsinki and has been a lifelong accounting student at the Aalto University School of Business since 1981. He is multilingual, working in Finnish, Swedish, English, German, and Spanish.

His capital-markets career began in 1985 at the head office of Kansallis-Osake-Pankki (KOP), where he handled domestic and foreign share and loan issues and worked on numerous IPO projects. From 1988 he continued this work at the firm that became Aktia Alexander, which he helped found. His personal experience as a stock investor dates back to 1971. Within the group, he has spent much of his career on management- and personnel-focused share-based remuneration and incentive programs, work now housed under Evli Alexander Incentives Oy (following the merger of Alexander Incentives and Evli Awards Management).

In February 2022, Aktia Bank Plc acquired a roughly 20% stake in Aktia Alexander Corporate Finance, giving the advisory firm its "Aktia Alexander" branding. The wider Alexander Group is chaired by Erkki Helaniemi, with Kopra as CEO of the parent company.

Beyond his firm, Kopra was a financial columnist for roughly 20 years, first in Taloussanomat and later in Arvopaperi magazine. He has also held administrative and board-adjacent roles connected to organizations including HelsinkiMissio ry, Ilkka Oyj, and Meripuolustussäätiö sr.

Investment Thesis & Focus

  • Kopra operates primarily as a corporate-finance adviser, not as a fund investor — his firm's "product" is IPO execution, capital-market transactions, M&A advisory, and valuation for Finnish/Nordic companies.
  • A defining specialty is share-based incentive and remuneration design for company management and personnel (via Evli Alexander Incentives Oy) — structuring how owners and employees participate in equity value.
  • As a private investor, his own equity investing dates to 1971, giving him a long-horizon, capital-markets-native perspective.
  • No publicly stated angel/seed thesis, check size, or target-company profile could be verified; treat any "seed round" framing from the stub as unconfirmed.

Notable Investments

  • No verifiable angel or venture portfolio was found in public sources.
  • His professional "deals" are advisory mandates — IPOs, share/loan issues, and M&A transactions executed through KOP (from 1985) and Aktia Alexander (from 1988) — rather than named equity investments.
  • Associated corporate/board roles: Ilkka Oyj (Finnish media company) and foundations including HelsinkiMissio ry and Meripuolustussäätiö sr.
  • *(If a specific angel portfolio exists, it is not documented in public sources; do not represent one without evidence.)*
